Rajasthan Virtual & Group Net Metering

The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) has announced the 3rd Amendment to the Grid Interactive Distributed Renewable Energy Regulations, 2025, officially allowing Virtual Net Metering (VNM) and Group Net Metering (GNM) across the state.

Under this new regulation, both residential and C&I consumers can now share solar power across multiple connections — a move that removes space and ownership barriers for many consumers.

Key highlights include:

  • ⚡ VNM & GNM allowed for all categories of consumers.

  • 🏠 Full waiver of all charges for domestic consumers.

  • 💡 50% surcharge relaxation for C&I and RESCO projects.

  • 🔋 Up to 100% wheeling charge waiver for battery storage.

  • ⚙️ Fast approvals — feasibility within 15–30 days.

Ajay Yadav, President of Renewable Energy Association of Rajasthan (REAR), welcomed the move, saying –

“This is a historic step by RERC that will accelerate solar adoption across all consumer categories and strengthen Rajasthan’s position as a solar leader.”

This progressive reform is set to unlock community solar, empower industries, and expand renewable adoption across Rajasthan.
